I don’t believe in talking about my work. I let it speak for itself. I’d rather make money than just talk about my business. People think that because I don’t talk much to the media, I am arrogant. I am not arrogant, but I do have an attitude.

I found that when you start thinking and saying what you really want then your mind automatically shifts and pulls you in that direction. And sometimes it can be that simple, just a little twist in vocabulary that illustrates your attitude and philosophy.

Most of us at the Reserve Bank come from a background in economics and hence have a predisposition in favour of free markets and a sceptical attitude towards intervention in those markets unless there is a clearly defined economic rationale for it.
